At 1400 hours this afternoon, we deployed an engine crew to Polk County North Carolina to assist with protecting property and extinguishing fires. The crew will report to Mill Spring, NC to sign in and receive their specific mission orders which could include: Building fire containment line in the woodland to direct or contain fire movement, Prepping structures to make them more fire resistive should the wild fires get close, Providing fire station coverage so the local fires crews can get a break while their homes ad communities are safe, Respond to any emergencies that a typical fire department may be tasked with managing.
Our personnel will either be assigned twelve or twenty four hours shifts on duty carrying out the needs of the mission to protect lives and property from fire.
The personnel deployed hold a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in fire and rescue services and they are all Emergency Medical Technicians.
We are happy to assist our North Carolina neighbors to our west knowing that they too would do the same for us if the roles were reversed.
Please keep our personnel in your thoughts and prayers as they once again step up to help those in need outside of our community.
The deployed resource will have little impact on our ability to protect our own community while they are deployed. |
