Fire Prevention Is for Everyone

Many relate fire safety to the month of October and local fire departments usually receive a lot of calls to visit schools, businesses and daycares. Fire Prevention Week occurs each year during the week of October 9th to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire which started on October 8, 1871. West King Street Gas Leak
Orange Rural Fire Department, October 10
At 10:37 this morning, B-Shift responded to an odor of natural gas near a residence on West King Street. Upon arrival, crews found a two inch gas line that had been struck by machinery used to install fiber optic lines. Dominion Energy arrived on scene and quickly began digging up the line and valves to shut off the flow of gas. Fire crews evacuated residences closest to the leak as a precaution and ... Supply Needs and Donations: If you are coordinating donations that you will transport or that will be sent west, please make sure your efforts are going to a distribution center or group that will actually get the supplies to those in need. The supply needs for western North Carolina have shifted a little
Orange Rural Fire Department, October 04
Several large companies and many private citizens have donated cases of bottled water. We are getting word that tractor trailer loads of water are now arriving so please refrain from donating cases of water. Still needed are baby food, baby bottles, cleaning supplies, generators, shelf worthy food that will last such as soups, packaged meals, etc... shovels, and money. To quote our Emergency Services ...
