At 13:12 hours this afternoon, B-Shift was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 3716 Lindsey Woods Road. Upon dispatch, Chief 201 reported seeing a large column of black smoke that was visible from Hillsborough. The first fire unit was on scene within 5 minutes of dispatch and reported finding a single family residence, fully involved in fire. Engine 231 arrived on scene and deployed multiple handlines to attack the fire and prevent further spread to a nearby garage. Firefighters made entry into the residence and into the garage where they located and saved a classic car.
There were no occupants in the residence when the fire department arrived.
Crews worked for several hours extinguishing hot spots and helping the owners search for and retrieve their belongings that could be salvaged.
We want to thank Cedar Grove Fire, Efland Fire, and Caldwell Fire for their equipment and personnel response on this fire. We want to thank Orange County Emergency Services, EMS Division for helping take care of the firefighters and helping with fire ground tasks.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Orange County Fire Marshal.
