At 3:24 this afternoon, A-Shift responded to a report of a truck overtured down an embankment with the driver still inside along US 70 Bypass just east of Hillsborough. The first arriving crew found a concrete truck with a partial load of concrete still inside, overturned down the embankment on US 70 Bypass just east of the intersection with Lawrence Road. The driver was out of the vehicle and treated by Orange County EMS. Big John's and Lee's Towing arrived on scene with multiple large wreckers and began the process to upright the truck and lift it back up to the roadway so it could be towed away. The positions needed for the wreckers to lift the truck caused a complete closure of Highway 70 for approximately four hours. The collaboration, hard work and support between Big John's Towing and Lee's Towing made this closure much shorter than ordinarily expected. They demonstrate true professionalism in the towing industry.
Fire department barricades and Orange County Sherriff Deputies shut the road and diverted traffic until the wreckers and wreckage was removed from the roadway. The road reopened around 7:45pm.
We want to thank the Orange County Sherriff's Office for their work to keep our towing company and fire personnel safe during this recovery. |
