Many truck and trailer loads of supplies have poured into the mountains this week. So much so that the logistics of handling all the donations have created a lot of work. We will continue to accept donations at our main fire station located at 206 S. Churton Street in Hillsborough until Friday. Anyone still wanting to donate is urged to drop off their donations before 5 pm on Friday.
As the supply chains get back up and running, we would like to urge everyone to consider donating money instead of goods. Donating a little along the way throughout the recovery period will continue to help those that need it most.
Here are a few options for financial donations that we feel are safe options:
North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund https://pay.payitgov.com/ncdonations
North Carolina Firefighter's Association Disaster Relief Fund https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=3D35444NQP3N6&fbclid=IwY2xjawFo3VhleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHVEacXj-Ka8VlMSE4pEZF-7nM6G6wYmfT-CRtJ_P5oyOip_z2vis9EZHag_aem_l6NM49wgcWxa85k8dT6ZFQ
Volunteer Organizations that are Active in Disaster https://www.nvoad.org/
Once the communities begin to rebuild and reopen, consider contacting them directly with your donations. Civic groups, fire departments, churches and even local government can all benefit from your donations as they try to pick up the pieces of their lives and move forward.
Whatever you decide to do or give please keep the citizens, firefighters, Paramedics, EMT's, power crews and law enforcement in your thoughts and prayers for many of them have either suffered a loss or will see and experience horrible situations and sites that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. |
