At 19:36 hours this evening, C-Shift was dispatched to a residential automatic fire alarm on Coleman Loop Road north of Hillsborough. Within 50 seconds of dispatch, Engine 231 was responding to the call. While enroute to the call, Orange County Emergency Communications updated that they were receiving multiple reports of a fire on the roof with smoke and flames visible. The incident was re-dispatched as a residential structure fire. In just under six minutes, E-231 was on the scene deploying hose line and initiating an aggressive interior attack on the fire. Chief 201 arrived on scene and established incident command, completed a 360 evaluation of the structure and controlled the electrical power into the structure.
The fire was quickly extinguished and forced air ventilation of the structure was initiated. Personnel from the Efland Fire Department were tasked with salvage operations to protect the belongings, furniture and electronics near the area of fire and extinguishment operations by deploying tarps and creating water chutes to carry water out of the structure.
There were no injuries related to the fire and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Orange County Fire Marshal.

Emergency services throughout our county are provided by a combination of fully paid, part time and volunteer emergency service professionals. We want to thank the Efland Fire Department, Cedar Grove Fire Department, Caldwell Fire Department, Orange County EMS, Orange County Fire Marshal, Orange County Sherriff and the American Red Cross for their hard work and contributions that resulted in less fire damage, more property saved, safe fire operations and for the level of compassion shown for the victims of this fire.
We hope that you never need us but rest assured that if you do, we are coming for you.
