This day in 2018 started as usual around the fire station, but ended horribly. What started out as a mutual aid request for rope rescue would end with the loss of one of the greatest people to ever join our department.

At 22:17 hours this evening, C-Shift responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on I85 between mile marker 165 and 170. Engine 234, Chief 201 and Eno Squad 333 and Eno Chief 305 responded to the call.

At 19:36 hours this evening, C-Shift was dispatched to a residential automatic fire alarm on Coleman Loop Road north of Hillsborough. Within 50 seconds of dispatch, Engine 231 was responding to the call. While enroute to the call, Orange County Emergency Communications updated that they were receiving multiple reports of a fire on the roof with smoke and flames visible.
